Suicide, Mental Health and Stereotypes Against Men...

Crying does not mean that a person is weak, but it means that the person has a heart.

With the recent suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, comes a bombardment of fans and actors and people who are talking about mental health and stereotypes against men. When will everybody realize that we must talk about these things everyday not only when a problem arises. While feminism is a topic people come across on a daily basis. Men aren’t asked about their emotions or feelings in fact they are expected to hide them with a mask of masculinity every single day. Men are called ‘weak’ when expressing feelings and are expected to be strong physically, mentally and emotionally all the time.

I want to talk about these situations without shying or straying away from it. We must be open when talking about our difficulties and circumstances. That is how we grow and that is how we bond with those closest to us.

And the answer to all of these issues isn’t committing suicide. Suicide is a irrational shortcut, a way of passing off burdens to your loved ones that won’t ever recover from it, a waste of a marvelous gift that is Life itself.

There is a popular saying that goes “Men don’t cry”. Well, it is time we make the world realize that men do cry and they have every right to do so. It is time we tell the men around the world that they don’t need to bottle up their feelings anymore. It is time we tell them that they can remove the masks that society has forced upon them. It is time my people, it’s time.

So please my brothers and sisters, discuss your problems however small you think it maybe. Discuss it with your parents, your teachers, your siblings, your friends. Express your feelings and emotions without the fear of being judged. Be Yourself.

And if you do need professional help like therapy, there is nothing wrong in that and to the people who do think there is something wrong in that, they need to be helped as well.
